Attractions include Killykeen Forest Park, a short drive from Crossdoney offering superb fishing, boating, walking treks etc. Cavan Equestrian Centre is located outside Cavan town, host to many show jumping competitions with competitors from England and Europe. Cavan Golf club is situated on the main Crossdoney to Cavan road, offering a superb golf course and members social club.

Cavan town is located a short 8km, an industrious and thriving town with good employment & social facilities which include tennis courts, GAA pitches, which both offer flood lit facilities, soccer, rugby, squash, handball, badminton & basketball clubs. Swimming pool & leisure complex, cinema, fine restaurants, bars, nite-clubs, entertainment including Ceile music, and a drama society.

Cavan town has recently opened its new third level college, Cavan institute, offering courses full and part time. There are many Primary & Secondary schools plus play schools / cresh facilities. The Johnston Central Library is located in the centre of town, a stunning new building, with computer facilities and an exhibition area for local artists.

Kilmore Cathedral is set in a picturesque landscape of rolling hills and lakes. St. Fethlimidh founded a small church in the sixth century. The present day cathedral was built and completed in 1860 which replaced an earlier building which is now used as a parochial hall. The cathedral was built in the middle pointed style and has many notable features, including the most famous feature, the 12th century Romanesque doorway, a fine example of architecture from the irish middle ages.
